Kris Mahoney
Kris Mahoney, originally from rural Minnesota, pursued higher education to expand his horizons, earning an MSc in Weed Science from North Dakota State University and a PhD from the University of Guelph. After teaching plant science courses at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, he moved back to Canada with his family to work as a freelance writer at the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus, increasing his published research manuscripts to over 20.
Today, Kris is an Instructor/Curator at the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture in Niagara Falls. In addition to curating the Gardens' core areas and turf spaces, he oversees Integrated Pest Management and teaches courses in horticulture. With nearly 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and horticulture, Kris is passionate about sharing his knowledge of insects, diseases, and weeds with anyone willing to listen—whether they are children or Master Gardeners.
