Open Positions
Dean of Faculty
(Part-time, permanent)
Willowbank is seeking to deepen its engagement with its faculty members, who are the Diploma Program’s most important resource, and to strengthen connections with a broader network of heritage professionals. As a step in this direction, we are pleased to announce a new staff position, “Dean of Faculty” (the actual job title will be discussed with the successful candidate). The job description is listed below.
This job is open to past and present Diploma Program faculty members and alumni, and to others with relevant experience and interests. Members of the Willowbank community are also welcome to nominate individuals they feel would be strong candidates - we will reach out to them to gauge their interest.
This is a permanent, part-time position. The Dean of Faculty will not be directly involved in the on-site delivery of the Diploma program. The position does not require residence in the Niagara area, and much of the work can be carried out remotely.
There is currently a need for significant review of the curriculum and its delivery. This review will be carried out by the appointee in collaboration with the Executive Director (Katie Houghton), the Board Chair (Julian Smith), and the Curriculum Review Committee. Following this initial phase, the Dean of Faculty will focus on sustaining the Program and making related adjustments to both curriculum and faculty engagement as needed. This will involve ongoing consultation with faculty and students, and with other heritage professionals.
Compensation is anticipated to be in the $40,000 to $50,000 range. Details regarding time commitment, involvement with other Willowbank activities, and salary expectations will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Applications for this position should be submitted to suzanne.mcvicar@willowbank.ca by the close of day on Monday, May 12, 2025.
The application should include the following:
-
A statement explaining your interest in the position.
-
A statement setting out your relevant experiences and qualifications. A current C.V. or resumé may also be included.
For any questions, please feel free to contact Katie Houghton at katie.houghton@willowbank.ca or 905-262-1239, or Julian Smith at julsmith3@gmail.com or 613-390-0980.
