Willowbank students have returned to campus following an award-winning showing at an international competition. The student design-build competition was organized by the Preservation Engineer Training Committee of the Association for Preservation Technology International (APTI). The multi-phased competition engaged universities across North America in the research, design, construction and testing of historic arches. Willowbank is pleased to announce its role in the new cornerstone laid on Parliament Hill in Ottawa by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, in the presence of the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister, and the Speakers of the Senate and House of Commons. The cornerstone flanks the Visitor Welcome Centre, the first new building on Parliament Hill in over a century. The stone is Queenston Limestone, and the inscription was carved by Willowbank faculty associate Danny Barber and alumni Justine Southam (pictured).
